How does the handoff work for Kleinanzeigen?

First receive payment, then book. Book a box online, place the item with the drop-off code, close the door. Send the correct link or QR code to the buyer. They open the box with their code and pick up the item themselves. Your address stays private.

How much does the item handoff cost?

One-time booking for the first 24 hours: XS €2.99, S €3.99, M €4.99, L €5.99. Each additional usage day costs €0.99. For 'Round trip' two ways are booked (outbound + return, each 2× 24 hours): XS €4.99, S €5.99, M €6.99, L €7.99. Each additional day per direction is €0.99. Prices are always shown before booking.

Do I have to share my address?

No. You only share the handoff link. The buyer sees the box location, not your home address. You stay anonymous but reachable.

How secure is the handoff?

The box is opened with individual access details, such as a code, QR code or link. Many partner locations have additional security measures, such as access control or video surveillance. Important: Only share codes and links with the right person.

What are the cancellation rules and what if the buyer doesn't pick up?

As long as the booking has not yet been used, you can cancel. We refund the paid amount minus already incurred reservation, partner, payment-processing and technical-handling costs. These costs are €2.99 for a one-time booking and €3.99 for "Round trip". Once the box has been opened or an item has been dropped off, picked up or returned, automatic cancellation is no longer possible. If the buyer doesn't pick up, you can retrieve the item yourself or extend the booking by additional usage days. Can the buyer inspect the item before pickup?

No. The box is not meant as an inspection station. Describe the item precisely beforehand and share good photos. For extra security, use payment methods with buyer protection, such as "Sicher bezahlen" or PayPal "Goods & Services".

What if I shared the wrong link?

If you shared the wrong link, reset it in the booking area, as long as this is still technically possible. After that, a new link or code is provided. Important: If the other person has already opened the link or seen the code, they may have saved it.

Can I use the box for other purposes?

Yes. You can also use gegenstand.de for [key handovers](/key-handover), [borrowed-item handovers](/borrowed-items-handover) and [luggage storage](/luggage-storage). Depending on the booking type, you can drop something off, pick something up or book a use with return.

Use Kleinanzeigen.de "Sicher bezahlen" or PayPal "Goods & Services". eBay Lokal also offers internal payment processing. Only book the handoff after payment received – never before. This keeps you protected.

Book box & put item in

Book a box online. 1240+ locations, mostly 24/7. Open the box with your code, put the item in, close the door. The box stays locked until your buyer opens it.

Share access

Forward the link or download the QR code as an image and send it via WhatsApp, email, SMS or chat. Your buyer picks up with their own code. You get an email as soon as it's picked up.
